Tracey S // Portraits

This is probably one of my favorite sessions. Tracey is one of the most interesting persons that I have had the chance to meet and I was really happy with the results from our session.
Most of these shots were taken on her backyard, the light was awesome and I am hoping that we were able to grab something that Tracey was happy with. These are my favorites.

Carlyn+Ryan // Wedding

I was honored to be part of this celebration, Carlyn is such an happy and interesting person that when she approached me to work at her wedding I was super exited.
The ceremony and reception were both hosted by the awesome people of the Calgary Zoo and the decoration was done by Your Perfect Day and it sure was perfect. Great people to work with.

I wish you both the best of luck.

Kevin // Portraits

I was approached by Kevin to do some portraits for him. He is currently hoping to become the next VJ on Much Music (Join his group here, he is an awesome dude), so we decided to go around the Eau Claire park and take some head shots.
After we were done with the head shots, I thought we would try something else and  these are my favorites.

Alley Party // Personal

Most unplanned things usually end up with awesomeness.
I read on twitter that the Theater Junction was going to have a party in an alley and by the vague descriptions of the event just about everywhere on the net, it looked like it would be a lot of older people drinking wine talking about how great that painting was or wasn’t.
As other plans had fallen through I decided to venture out to the core in search of this boring event. Not that there is anything wrong with art galleries, simply they are just not my crowd.
I turned into this alley and I was met by a DJ spinning awesome tunes and a good crowd. Did I mention the really cheap beer? It was a happening event. It was a well planned event with a huge success.
The music and the drinks were provided by the HiFi Club, where they held an “after party”.

I shot over 700 frames and had a good time. I made this 4min video with 540+ shots of the event. Enjoy.

PS: Fabi’s shots from above are here.

***UPDATE: Now I know who these guys are and how amazing they are. They are from the House of Dangerkat and their link is here.

Astral // Personal

I remember when I was a kid, my dad took me to watch a meteor shower somewhere outside Bogota. I can’t remember seeing any meteors but something that always stays in mind are the thousands of stars that are visible when you drive away from a huge metropolis.
A few weeks back we had what was supposed to be a big one, one for the records. It was called Perseids and we went out to the Rothney Observatory to watch it. 3 hours later I caught one with my camera, I guess just pointing at the right part of the sky at the right time.
I was clever enough to leave my house with shorts and a t-shirt without realizing that in this almost Nordic place of the earth the temperature drops quite drastically at night. It was just my luck that one of the astrophysicist that run the place, had a big winter coat that I was able to use and be more confortable than having taken one of my own.

The observatory held an open house last week but unfortunately I was not able to attend. Its located fairly close to the city and they host a variety of events well worth checking out.

Sandee+Luca+Paxton // Portraits

My first visit to Heritage Park turned out to be for a dear friend of mine and her two boys, Luca(4) and Paxton(2)
She told me she had not had any photos taken since Paxton was a few months old and there was nothing else to do but to fix that with an awesome outing to Luca’s most favorite place.

Here you go Sandee! Time to get some frames! :)

Kristin+Corey // Portraits

I met Kristin close to three years ago while attending a “Internet Identity” conference where she was a speaker. Being the reader that I am, I was hooked to her blog since the first time I read it and I have in some way kept in contact with her.
I had originally planned something different for Kristin and Corey, but due to technical problems we went with just the second part of our scheduled time. Sometimes things work out better that way.
Thank you guys for allowing me to hang out with you for those few hours. Meeting fun and interesting people is amazing.

Thanks also go out to Sandee Cross, for her awesome work with make up and hair for Kristin.

Big Rock // Personal

I ventured out with Sarah P to Okotoks, Black Diamond and Turner Valley.
Our first stop was the old towne of Okotoks and the Okotoks Heritage House:

We were guided by the person working at the Heritage House to go to the Big Rock. I had never heard of it. There, we met a couple of girls (I didnt ask for their names, they were way high!) from Ontario taking shots of themselves while climbing, I told them I got some shots of them and left them my card on their windshield. So here they go guys! **Now I wish I would’ve gotten closer! Maybe next time!

_DSC4916-Edit-Edit

We went to the Old Gas Plant in Black Dimond, too bad it was closed. We tried to break in, with no luck. It made for some awesome texture shots.

Hugo and Marcela // Family Portraits

I was originally hired to shoot their baby, something I dont do everyday, but I decided to gift them with an “engagement” session since they had not had a wedding photoshoot. Glad to have given them this.
